Fun Ho! Superised
by Scott...aka. " Mister Superise"

SUPERISED #166 OIL TANKER

This neat little model had a reasonable production life, so it still turns up from time to time and usually in intact condition. At only 90 mm long , it makes a nice compact and easy model to Superise. I chose to model this tanker in "Shell" petrol livery.

As usual the model is first stripped of all it's paint and inspected for any damage etc. to the casting. Small amounts of filler were required and the model was lightly sanded smooth. This example was a later casting with solid side cab windows. These were then filed out to add more detail.

The model was next painted overall in red until a nice smooth glossy finish was obtained. Next the yellow was applied to the tank, two coats being needed to get a good coverage over the red paint. Bright silver paint added the finishing touches to the bumper and front grille area.

Two new axles and four white plastic 1/2 inch wheels replaced the old original worn units. Headlight stickers and "Shell" transfers complete this neat transformation.

Any of the petrol, oil companies can be modelled, or for something different, how about Beer, Wine, Flour, Sugar or other bulk powder products?

Next time you come across a #166 Tanker. Buy it and have a go.
